That under the Code of Iowa homeowners in Story County are allowed to file for
exemptions and credits toward their yearly property tax bill. To qualify for
an exemption or credit, applications must use their primary residence the address for filing the qualifiying
credits.
If you are a veteran of the United States Armed Services,
you may also qualify for an additional tax credit on your property taxes.
Currently these two common tax credit and exemption forms which are only available for residents of Story County who reside
outside of the City of Ames. If you are a resident of Ames, please contact the
Ames
City Assessor's Office for information on how to obtain forms for your residence.
- Retrive a printable PDF copy of your Homestead Tax Credit and / or Military
Service Tax Exemption
forms if you are a resident of Story County outside of Ames.
- Populate the required form fields based upon your address, parcel number for
Homestead Credit and name for Military Service Exemption.
This service does not file your application electronically or automatically. You will need to sign and date the applications and mail them to:
