Tornadoes may occur at anytime of day or year. They are not restricted to only Kansas. In fact, tornadoes have been reported in every state in the United States. Iowa is in “tornadic alley” (the land in central US where most of the tornadoes form) marked in red within the image. Iowa ranks fifth in the nation for tornado occurrences.

You must have a plan ready, in case a tornado hits your county because by the time a tornado approaches, you will only have seconds to take cover. Planning requires time and clear though, which is not possible under limited time and stress. If anything you may need to use those couple extra seconds to guide your loved ones to shelter.
